| Summary, etc. | Two young girls are sent to live with an aunt (Isabella Rossellini) in Tuscany when their parents are killed in a car crash at the height of World War II. Married to a German Jewish intellectual (Jereon Krabbe), the aunt takes in the girls who learn about art and music despite the constant military threats to their new home. Undergoing the regular experiences of young girls such as first love and strained friendships, they also narrowly escape the horrors of war. |
